BB2 (DR2 Replacement)

Picture
This brittle bar deropement switch is a replacement for the original Lift Engineering DR2 deropement switch.

Improvements over the OEM product include
  • Mounting slot enabling it to accommodate variations of mounting hardware experienced in the field on LE line machinery
  • Quick disconnect electrical connections enabling quick and easy replacement.
  • Clear weather protection enabling visual reference to brittle bar
  • Elimination of the expensive cumbersome pigtail wiring that
  • Elimination of the possible connection between the wires in the pig tail resulting in bypassing of the brittle bar.
  • Easily daisy chain-able via the quick plug connector if this switch is desired to be used in series.

The Pigtail Problem

Picture
Given time and wear on a lift tower the wiring that runs from the brittle bar to the crossarm can become frayed where it comes into the brittle bar in the small boot that fits at the end of the OEM brittle bar. If this happens these two wires connecting will make it so that even if the brittle bar circuit is broken the lift will not see a fault. This bypassing of the safety circuit is a dangerous situation and one that is very difficult to find and impossible to test without breaking the brittle bar itself to verify that there isn't a short in the boot. Both of the Bald Eagle Brittle Bars eliminate this possibility for failure by eliminating the pigtail that is a fixture of the OEM brittle bar.
